NFL Week 5 Monday Night Football

MONDAY, OCT. 9

Tonight's story is Raiders receiver Davante Adams playing against the Packers for the first time since their 2022 split. However, the 1-3 Raiders face far more pressing concerns.

Their only victory this season was against the lifeless Broncos, and another loss, especially at home during primetime, would further break their already hurting fans.

Even though it's relatively early in the season, this game is a must-win for the Raiders, although few think they can pull it off.

It’s almost game time. Let’s get it!

Packers (2-2) vs. Raiders (1-3)

Our Take

In the season's initial weeks, Jordan Love showcased league-leading stats with a TD-to-INT ratio of 6:0 and a passer rating of 118.8.

However, his recent performances witnessed a stark decline: two touchdowns, three interceptions, and a 68.0 rating.

This week, he faces the Raiders, whose defense has shown vulnerabilities, with an 8:1 TD-to-INT ratio and 108.2 passer rating.

This matchup comes after Love's underwhelming performance last Thursday, but despite the setback, he is due to impress on primetime MNF.

Week 5

The Jets' offensive coordinator, Nathaniel Hackett faced criticism from Broncos coach Sean Payton during the preseason. However, when the teams met yesterday, Hackett led the Jets to a 31-21 win over Payton's Broncos.

Highlight plays included a game-sealing score by Bryce Hall after Quincy Williams' strip-sack of Russell Wilson.

Quarterback Zach Wilson had another impressive performance, possibly influenced by Aaron Rodgers' advice.

Despite challenges earlier in the season, Coach Robert Saleh has guided the Jets to a 2-3 record. Saleh praised his team's performance and noted Hackett's significant contribution by awarding him a game ball.

Meanwhile, the Broncos persist in their lackluster performance. Barring their remarkable recovery last week, they'd be sitting without a single victory this year, emerging as one of the season's significant letdowns.

Elsewhere in the NFL, the Bengals seemed to find their groove, at least momentarily. Ja’Marr Chase's performance stood out.

The Eagles, though not yet at their peak, are undefeated at 5-0 after taking down the Rams 23-14 in Los Angeles

In Pittsburgh, a combined effort from T.J. Watt, Kenny Pickett, and George Pickens halted the Ravens, preventing a season sweep by Baltimore.

Over in Atlanta, a combination of plays, including Bijan Robinson’s exceptional catch and Desmond Ridder's 329 passing yards, helped the Falcons edge out the Texans. Stroud's interception-free start in the NFL is noteworthy.

In Minnesota, Travis Kelce faced an injury scare and underwent an X-ray, but returned to score a touchdown, aiding the Chiefs in defeating the Vikings and advancing their record to 4-1. Unfortunately, the Vikings now sit at a disappointing 1-4.

Down in Miami, the Dolphins achieved another record in their win against the Giants. Their offensive stats are approaching historic levels, reminiscent of the 2000 St. Louis Rams.

Is Bill Belichick
 OK?

Bill Belichick's position is under scrutiny, according to Chad Graff, following the Patriots' poor 1-4 start, emphasized by a 34-0 loss to the Saints. With their recent games resulting in a 72-3 combined score against them, this season's performance diverges from the expected mediocrity. Steve Buckley suggests that staff under owner Robert Kraft might have job security concerns.

Are the Bengals still broken?

The Bengals showed promise as Joe Burrow came back to life, finding Ja'Marr Chase, who secured 192 yards and three touchdowns in their 34-20 win against the Cardinals.

If Joe Burrow can keep this up there’s hope for the 2-3 Cincinnati team.

Are the Bills losing steam?

Buffalo's recent 25-20 loss to the Jaguars in London can be attributed to factors like jet lag and injuries. Despite their strong performance in the prior three weeks, they showed unexpected sluggishness. While it's too early for concern, their sudden drop-off is troubling.
